Studio
Batu is a growing collective with multidiscipline background, using films,
installation, video mapping, and visual performance to reflect on the
ever-changing socio-political circumstances. We believe in the power of emotion
as the effective bridge for the audience to engage with the idea behind
artworks. Some of our work have been part of the world circuit festival such as
Semaine de la Critique Cannes, Berlinale Film Festival, Singapore Film
Festival, Melbourne Film Festival, and so on. We have commissioned by
Tjolomadoe Museum (Confectionary 2018 and Antebingkalbu 2019) and Land of
Leisure (Stardust Chamber 2017 and Impulse 2018) to make video mapping
installation. In 2018 we produced with JD.ID and Vice Indonesia “Serentang
Jalan” a short visual performance using Ikat brand woven fabric combined with
video mapping and shadow puppet. Now, we developing visual performance that
combine video mapping, object theatre, animation to reach enigmatic yet
artistic approach.
